Marking out sheer line

Image
Grabbed a little time to mark out the new sheer line for Monkey. Got the BMS from the CAD , 2.1 m from stern, and it’s actually about there… Used the max depth of hull minus about 15mm to allow for the deck (5mm) and track (10mm) Struck a line from the max height at the end of the tracks through the min depth and to the bow, did it also in cad and the bow measurement should be 260mm which surprisingly it is give or take a few mm. Then levelled the boat athwart ships and used a laser level to mark out the cut line, it’s about 150mm to cut off the height of the bow…

Well, not much action over the last 3 years.... but I have developed my design, done templates and brought some 3mm ply and batterns... family matters took over for a while, then I moved again. This will now be a single boat build “Roobarb”. Hopefully I can see the light at the end of the house moving tunnel... I did buy back Monkey late last year. Chris Hampe had her for a while, then Richard Bowers. Always a bit of a testing ground I’ve plans to do a Revision 3 lowering her decks and generally updating her. I’ve done a design for Perham Harding titled Gentleman’s Canoe (Dragonfly Mk3) which is in build with Sam Barker and I do have a design I have developed with Tony Marston based on the Slurp design (which almost could be a Monkey Mk2), titled “Super Slurp”. The intention is that this is suitable for home build, possibly in ply or foam over a simple frame. At some stage I will develop plans or a kit for a build. Hot off the press is another design I am considering that is aimed...
