The beginning

Image
I first started to think about a new canoe build in the months leading up to the Richmond Worlds in 2014. From the beginning the idea was to take the Dragonfly design and do a more extreme version, two boats to be made in parallel, Roobarb and Custard. Life then got a bit more complex. There was no time to start a build but the design process has continued and the basic plan has remained the same. Some images of the CAD showing the general hull shape. I intend to make all the composite parts. After much debate I will fabricate a male mould for the hull and a female mould for the aft deck. The foredeck will come off the aft deck moulding. The sliding seat I have a mould for so I will reuse that. The spars will be roll wrapped pre-preg. The foils I have mould for but hope to do new moulds. I made a personal commitment to start this year, so here we go, wish me luck!!
